Spring Signs

"I've found something, too!" exclaimed Custard. WalkerBear and Gerry ran over to him and he proudly showed them his find.

It was the small, delicate, yellow flowers of a wild primrose. "It's almost the same colour as me!" he said. "I'm already named after something the same colour as me - Custard. But I could easily have been called Primrose instead!" The bears all giggled. They couldn't think of calling Custard anything but Custard!

"I've found a pretty little flower too!" said James. "It's over here." And he led the bears under the lilac tree and among the bits of bark on the ground was a clump of green leaves with little, tiny, pale lilac flowers, just showing above them. "What is it?" he asked.
