The teddy bears had a brilliant time over the Coronation weekend. Their favourite part was their special Garden Party celebration which they had spent weeks preparing for. And they even managed it with only a few little hitches!

On the day of the Party they rushed about completing their last-minute tasks. Lizzie and her gang had made loads of paper bunting flags which Bubbles had kindly threaded onto long lengths of twine. This they hung up all over the garden, and even put some up indoors as well (just in case!)

Boo and his team had finished preparing all the food for the sumptuous outdoor picnic. They had put up a long trestle table and covered it in a colourful tablecloth. They laid out their bright picnic beakers and plates for their guests to use, and added small bowls of pretty flowers. They found a large cake stand in the kitchen and used that to display their home-made cupcakes (as well as some they had bought specially which were obviously decorated much more tidily, though probably nowhere near as tasty as their own!)

There were also various small sandwiches, sausage rolls, salads, crisps, fruit, cakes, coronation biscuits shaped like crowns, strawberries and cream, in fact everything you could wish for in a picnic spread for teddy bears.

As you may recall, they were planning on having their own "coronation" with Charlie as their King Of The Party. Edward had finally finished the regal cape he had been making and he had also constructed a large golden crown for Charlie. Teddy had volunteered to carry out the actual crowning ceremony. He was a bit worried that he might not be able to reach up quite high enough to place the crown on Charlie's head so had arranged for a stepladder to be available if needed.

Soon their friends started to arrive and they all commented how nice the garden looked, bedecked in all the spring flowers and bunting, and they were all looking forward to what looked like a huge picnic spread out before them.

Everyone had lemonade and squash to drink, and they walked around chatting to each other until Teddy raised his voice to announce the coronation would be taking place. They all moved to the area where Charlie was waiting in his gorgeous cape, surrounded by the fluttering bunting.

Teddy thanked everyone for coming and then lifted up the golden crown studded with "jewels". He did have to make use of his stepladder, but that just made everyone giggle. As he placed the crown on Charlie's head, he pronounced him King Of The Party! There were loud cheers and lots of waving of flags. Everyone agreed that "King" Charlie looked very regal. Then Charlie declared that everyone was welcome to start dining and they all gathered around the picnic table to choose from all the delights there.

After everyone was full (or nearly full in the case of those bears who really liked their food!) the teddy bears' friends brought out some games to play - Pass the Parcel, Pin The Diamond On The Crown, Wordsearch - thankfully none of them involved running around - the bears were all very grateful for that since they were so full by then they couldn't even think of moving! (You can print off a copy of the Wordsearch here and try it yourselves).

Charlie let the other bears try on his cloak and crown - though both were a bit big for the smaller bears but they wore them anyway, even though it made everyone giggle at the sight!

After several hours of good fun, good food and, luckily, good weather, their Garden Party came to an end. Their friends stayed to help them tidy up (and maybe swipe an extra biscuit or cake while they did so!) But the bears were just glad that everyone had had a great time and pleased that they had been able to put on a really great party!

We hope whatever your celebrations were went well too. The bears can't wait for whatever their next festivities will be. They love a party!
