They'll be finding their binoculars so that they can see the birds really close up - the patterns and colours of their feathers, and the colour of their eyes and beaks - all these things help the bears to recognise which bird is which. Crackers has made sure that the battery in his camera is fully charged so that he can take lots of pictures.
Teddy, who has the neatest handwriting is going to be their scribe - that means that he is the one who will be filling in all the forms.
They're planning on counting the birds early on Sunday morning - not too early though - because that is when there are most around. Once they've completed their form, they'll pop it in an envelope and go for a walk to the post-box to post it. They will probably need the exercise by then, having sat still for so long, and eaten so many snacks!!
