The colours are always in the same order - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo (a type of purple), and violet. A handy way to remember the order of the colours is to recite 'Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain' in which the initial letters of each word represent each of the seven colours.
Just occasionally, as you will see if you look very carefully at some of the photos, a second rainbow is seen outside the first, but the order of the colours in that one will be reversed! How amazing is that?
There's also an old tale that there is a 'crock of gold' buried at the end of a rainbow - but, so far, the bears have never been able to reach the end before the rainbow has disappeared!
