Silver Linings

Rainbows

There is a saying that "behind every cloud there is a silver lining" - meaning that no matter how bad a situation may seem, there is always some good aspect to it. A silver lining on a cloud means that the sun is just behind it, ready to come out. And the bears quite like this saying because they like to look for the good in everything (the way bears do!)

Well, with the weather having been really miserable all week and hardly a day going by when it hasn't rained, the bears have not been very happy with that. Although they could go out and walk in the rain, they do get very wet and, being bears, it does take a very long time for them to get dry again.

So, they've been spending their time indoors, looking out at the rain falling. But, occasionally, they've seen some interesting things.

For example, the birds who visit their bird feeders don't stop visiting just because it's raining. They've still seen blue tits and sparrows, robins and pigeons and blackbirds and starlings and goldfinches, and even a little tiny wren.

They looked very wet, but determined to eat the food the bears had put out for them. The bears still run out (very quickly!) and fill up the feeders, even if it is raining. They don't want the birds to go hungry.
