Then he had to find some trimming (he didn't have any ermine which is what royal cloaks are usually edged with). Finally he used a big bold jewel to fasten the cloak around Charlie's neck. This type of royal cloak is usually called a 'mantle'.
Edward measured, and measured again, he pinned, he sewed (even using a very complicated sewing machine - clever Edward!)
"What do you think?" he asked as Charlie tried it on.
"It looks wonderful!" exclaimed Charlie. "It will be an honour to wear it." Edward allowed himself a modest smile (and maybe even blushed a little bit) at Charlie's praise.
All the other bears ran over to see Charlie in his regal outfit and were suitably impressed. They would all have liked their own cloaks too, but they would be happy just to be wearing their own crowns, which they had made last year for the Platinum Jubilee.
