Eventually he finished and the other bears all gathered round to see what a good job he had made. Now they are all looking forward to being able to pick their own fresh salad any time they want. They can't wait!
Perhaps you could try to grow some plants out of doors - you don't need a trough like the one the bears used, you can just plant seeds straight into some soil in the garden, or in another type of container (like a large plant pot) as long as it has drainage. Then just wait until the leaves are big enough to pick and you can make your own salad for tea!
