Growing Salad Leaves

Growing Salad Plants

Teddy decided that he would like to fill it with lettuces and salad leaves, and possibly some herbs as well. He said he would do the planting and all the bears could share the end results! Thanks, Teddy!

He started by putting some gravel in the bottom of the trough. This was for drainage - he didn't want the plants to get too wet. The bears knew from when they sowed some peas and beans indoors that plants don't like to be sitting in puddles of water!

Then he filled the trough up with compost which was bought in bags from the Garden Centre.

The bears had already started off some seeds in the greenhouse so Teddy chose lots of different salad leaves, and some radish, and some herbs - dill, and lemon basil. They would make a wonderful salad when they all grew up.
