It will soon be time for the annual RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch. The bears try and do this every year and it involves counting how many different birds visit your garden in an hour. This year's Bird Watch takes place between 25th and 27th January. You can visit the RSPB website at www.rspb.org.uk to request a free pack which gives you lots of information and explains exactly what to do.
The survey has been running for 40 years and 519,000 people joined in last year and counted over 7,500,000 birds!!! That's a lot of birds! The top three birds on the list last year were the house sparrow, followed by the starling, and then the blue tit. Last year the bears counted more goldfinches than anything else
As you know, the bears love to feed the birds in their garden with lots of different foods - suet balls, birdseed, mealworms, and nijer seeds - some of which are for specific types of birds because they don't all like the same food - just like bears don't!
