The teddy bears have loved being on holiday. They liked getting out and about in the fresh air - sometimes it was very cold, but keeping active kept them warm, and they love walking and exploring. One of their favourite walks this time was along the coast around Moelfre, a small fishing village on the east coast of Anglesey.

They parked near to the Moelfre RNLI (that's the Royal National Lifeboat Institution) Seawatch Centre where they could look around a lifeboat, learn about the history of lifeboatmen saving lives at sea, and visit the RNLI Shop to buy presents to take home.

They had packed a picnic (as they do for all their walks - just in case they feel a bit peckish!) and they set off along a path right on top of the cliffs, looking down at the blue sea, past memorials to famous Lifeboatmen and tragic shipwrecks.

It really was a beautiful day for a walk - blue sky and sunshine, but a chill wind that meant they were very glad to have packed their scarves. They found a beach packed with seashells - some of which seemed huge compared with the size of the little teddy bears!

Alfred had heard that if you held a seashell to your ear you could hear the sea. Unfortunately, these seashells were too heavy to pick up so he bent down to put his ear next to a shell - and declared that he could, indeed, hear waves breaking on the shore! Nobody liked to point out to Alfred that was actually what they could all hear too, even without a seashell pressed to their ears!!

They passed the main Lifeboat Station where the current lifeboat is located and walked onto a very stony beach, then across some sandy turf and over some large rocks to another shipwreck memorial. From there they could look towards where they were planning to walk along a narrow path with a steep cliff on one side. On the other side there seemed to be a small pebbly beach and - what was that they could see? Had someone left some tiny statues there? The bears would have to hurry around the headland to see what they were.

They arrived at the beach and were absolutely stunned to find innumerable piles of 'pebble pillars', put there, they assumed, by passing walkers like themselves. The pillars were all of different heights and different sizes of pebbles. Some were taller than the bears! And there was one set which made an archway that they could walk through! It was a seriously strange place - but the bears decided that they liked it very much!

So much so that they decided to add their own contribution. They didn't have the time (nor the strength!) to build their very own pillar but they could place some smaller pebbles on the pillars which were already there.

So with a little bit of assistance from the other bears, both James and Alfred managed to climb on top of a pillar and haul up an extra pebble to leave on top. Who knows? Maybe someone else will come along and add another pebble on top of theirs?

They were all very pleased that they had managed to be involved in such a wonderful spectacle and will make sure that when they visit again, they will try to find their particular pebble pillars and maybe add some more pebbles too.

Maybe if you ever travel to Moelfre, you can see if you can find the hidden beach with the pebble pillars - it really is a sight to behold!
