Boo's Fire Engine
Boo Makes A Fire Engine
A Read-Along Activity
When the weather was a bit miserable the other day, raining and cold, Boo decided that he would like to do something indoors. He went through lots of the bears' toys and games but couldn't find anything interesting enough until he came across a kit to make a fire engine!!
"Brilliant!" he thought. "This will keep me busy and I'll have a fire engine to play with when I've finished."
He opened the box and found a cardboard cut-out - in the shape of a flattened fire engine! There were also some acrylic paints, a paintbrush and some shiny stickers of things a fire engine would need, like hoses, and ladders, and firemen!
He carefully put down some old newspaper over the table so that it would be protected from any accidents with paint (not that he expected to make a mess, but sometimes things can get knocked over in the excitement of making a fire engine!!)
He laid out the cardboard cut-out on top of the newspaper and carefully opened the black paint. Then he painted the wheels black. Then he used the red paint to cover the rest of the fire engine's body. Unfortunately, he then had to wait quite a while until all the paint dried.
Eventually, he was able to pick up the cut-out without getting red or black paint all over his paws! Then there was a lot of folding to do, to make the cut-out turn into the shape of a fire engine - there was a lot of huffing and puffing, and a few sighs, before the model was finally made.
But it looked like just a red box! Then Boo started to add the stickers to it. He put coiled hoses on the side, and ladders on the top, and then added a fireman driver, and lights and beacons on the back and front.
When it was finally finished, it looked just like a (small) fire engine, with a driver and another fireman, and all their equipment. Boo was very proud of it and the other bears thought it was great too. Boo let them all play with it, and they had lots of fun all afternoon! Thanks, Boo.
