The bears all got up early on Good Friday, excited that it was the beginning of the long Easter weekend. And to start off their holiday, Jane had put together some Easter Egg hunts in the garden! How exciting!

The bears had invited all their friends round to join in the fun, and they were split into two different groups. The first group was all the younger bears, who were each given an empty basket! What was this all about? Jane explained that each of them had to find eggs of a specific colour, and inside those eggs would be smaller, chocolate eggs! This sounded like something they would all love to do.

They each ran off into the garden, looking for the eggs of their colour, and putting them in their baskets.

Unfortunately, sometimes the eggs had been hidden in places that they couldn't quite reach! Oh no! What were they going to do?

Luckily, as it was a lovely day, the older bears had gone outside to enjoy the sunshine and watch the hunt, so they helped the younger bears climb up into the big pots, or held their paws while they reached over for an egg hidden in the hollow of a tree.

If the bears found an egg of the wrong colour, they left it in place for its rightful owner to find. Gerry spent most of the time being side-tracked by the lovely perfume of the flowers.

But soon they had each found all their coloured eggs and decided they would sit outside in the sunshine too, although they kept their eggs in the shade of course, so that they wouldn't melt.

Then the older bears were given their baskets and the first colour of the egg they should be looking for.

Inside their eggs there were clues to the locations of their next egg, and they had to find all their eggs before they were rewarded with a big Easter egg each! Yum yum!

Some of the clues they had to decipher seemed very complicated (especially to the younger bears who were watching the hunt). Try this one out - each line of the verse hints at a letter and then the letters make up the name of a place in the garden?

My first is in gain but not in pain
My second is in barn and also in grain
My third is a junction and also a shirt
My last starts early so put on a spurt!

Think about it for a little while, then check out the answer at the end.

Have you ever tried an Easter Egg Hunt? They can be very easy - like the one for the younger bears where they just looked for a particularly coloured egg. Or you can make up clues to lead hunters from one egg to another.

As long as you have fun - and the weather stays fine if you are outside. Although any of these hunts could easily be changed to work indoors as well. Enjoy yourselves, but maybe don't eat all the chocolate eggs at once!

What do you think was the answer to the clue above? It was GATE of course!! Well done if you worked that one out!
