The teddy bears have been so excited! They've been planning a trip to London for ages, and today was the day! They all got up very early (bears normally like to sleep a lot!!) and got themselves ready for their trip. They travelled by train - for some of them it was their first trip on a train, even their first trip to a Railway Station. The little ones found it all very strange and sometimes a bit frightening - especially when trains would thunder through the station without stopping!! The bigger teddy bears thought it was all extremely interesting and very thrilling!

They stood waiting on the platform for what seemed like ages, until, at last, their train arrived and with much squealing of brakes, and swishing of doors, it stopped and they climbed on. They found their seats in a carriage at the front of the train, and settled down for the very long journey - it took nearly two hours!! They passed the time by playing games, and chatting, but mostly by gazing out of the windows at the countryside going past so fast.

Eventually they arrived in London - none of them had ever been to such a large city. They have been shopping in towns before, but this place was huge, and noisy, and busy, with loads of other people everywhere! They hailed a black cab to take them to the place they had all wanted to visit - The Natural History Museum. It was a very big building, very beautiful and packed with all sorts of interesting exhibits.

They started off downstairs in a huge hall, where most of the space was taken up with the skeleton of a very, very big whale - it was a Blue Whale, called Hope. They walked all the way round it, looking up to its head with its great big teeth, way, way, above them. Note to self - don't walk and look up at the same time - it makes you dizzy!! The original display at the front of the museum was a diplodocus, a huge dinosaur, affectionately known as 'Dippy'. He sounded like he would have been fun to see too!

It was a very big place to look around, so they had lots of rest stops - there were seats to sit on, and there was a café for elevenses, and a spot for them to eat their packed lunches. They found another dinosaur called a Stegosaurus - he had big teeth too! They also saw monkeys, and fishes, and even bears, and rocks, and plants, and all sorts of really interesting things.

Out of all the exhibits, they agreed that the dinosaurs were their favourites. They visited the Gift Shop and found dinosaur toys which were soft and fluffy, not quite as alarming as the ones in the Museum's displays, so they decided to buy one or two (or three or four) to take home with them. They also bought some magazines and books about them too so they can read all about them later.

Much too soon, it was time for them to make their way back to the Railway Station and catch their train home. This time, they didn't play games, or chat, or look out the windows - they were all fast asleep, dreaming of dinosaurs! What a great day out!!!
